The results of the Senepol x Black Gelbvieh were most pleasing. Females resulting from this joining have been embryo collected this year 2007 to Angus and Senepol sires.
To continue new Angus genetic imputs to the Orara Blacks, a top sire was purchased from Forres Angus ,Dungog in 2006. Sired by BT Ultravox 297E,his calves will be on display at the Big River open day on the second Sunday in March together with those by the Senepol sires Wizard, Hercules and Big Black Sambo- all out of Big River and Orara Black females.


Coming up: In 2004 limited use of Senepol was tried on Orara Black females using a Senepol/Angus hybrid bull with the aim of introducing 25% Senepol to the Orara Black females. Weaners are so far most impressive. One purchased Senepol/Angus Hybrid and one Black Gelbvieh cow were embryo collected to purebred Senepol and in 2006 twenty one recipients will calve to them. Reasons for trialing Senepol are the presence of “slick” coat, tenderness constitution genes.
